Mr Morné van der Merwe wrote to us with excitement about Bach Rescue™ Remedy. Morné studies music at Stellenbosch University, and finds he gets extremely stressed out when exam time comes around, especially when he has to give a performance. He is generally a person who stresses out easily, so a friend recommended that he try Bach Rescue™ Remedy.
I got the Bach Rescue™ Remedy, and I must say it had a great impact on my day. I have been using it while studying for my exams and before performances, and I am really surprised and impressed with it. I never believed in the power of flowers and herbs, but now I have no choice. This has changed my perception entirely! (translated from Afrikaans)
Bach Rescue™ Remedy is a non-addictive, non-tranquilising liquid solution designed to comfort and reassure. When you feel fearful, confused or in a situation that makes you feel like the walls are closing in on you, or you are faced with a situation you find hard to cope with, Bach Rescue™ Remedy will calm and strengthen you.
Mrs Buckley shares how Bach® Original Flower Remedies' Gorse and Gentian helped her teenage son, Robert.
When Robert's girlfriend decided it was time they went their separate ways, he was extremely upset as she had been his first love. I was very concerned about him: he seemed to go into "hibernation", and said he felt hopeless that he would ever be happy again. He was very negative and despondent. I have quite a bit of experience with Bach® Original Flower Remedies, so I gave him Gorse and Gentian, as these were both indicated for his emotional state. He took four drops (two of each), four times per day. Within a week of starting treatment, he seemed brighter, felt stronger and was much more positive. A month later, he is feeling strong and has learned that everything happens for a reason, and he says he has new hope for the future.
Gentian, the "belief flower", is used for changing doubt into trust. It is ideal for those feeling depression or despondence about a specific cause (e.g. divorce, poor health or job loss). Gorse, the "hope flower", is used where there is hopelessness, despair and a feeling that nothing can be done to solve the problem. Dr Edward Bach prescribed it for people who "look as if they need sunshine in their lives to drive the clouds away".
Ms Schaeffer from Pretoria told us about how Bach® Original Flower Remedies' Elm helped her when she was promoted at work.
I had been working as a shop assistant for approximately a year. As a result of my hard work, I was promoted to a managerial position. While I was honoured, I was also terrified that I couldn't handle the responsibility, and that I might mess up! I took Elm, as this is meant to help when you feel overwhelmed with responsibility – and it worked! I stopped feeling that I might not match up to the expectations of my employer and staff, and began to have faith in my ability to manage the shop. I also used Bach Rescue™ Remedy on my first day in the new position, as I have always found this very helpful in a sticky situation. Now I am confidently managing the shop, and my staff have all commented on how happy they are to be working with me. Every now and again, I have moments of doubt, then I just take Elm for a few days, and things quickly seem positive again.
Elm, the "responsibility flower" helps encourage inner confidence where there is a fear of being inadequate at a task. It is perfectly suited to this kind of situation, where a person feels that he or she isn't up to a responsibility. Elm helps to bring out the capable, confident leader who can sometimes be smothered by self-doubt.
Mr Davids from Randburg told us about how Bach Rescue™ Remedy helps his nervous dog when there are fireworks or thunderstorms.
My dog, a Labrador-cross, is very highly strung and is usually terrified whenever there is a thunderstorm (which is common here in the Highveld) and whenever people let off firecrackers. He shakes and hyperventilates and frantically searches for somewhere to hide. It's quite distressing to see! A pharmacist recommended Bach Rescue™ Remedy drops which, I have to say, work wonders! At the first sign of thunder I give him four drops (I place them on my hand and he licks them off), and then every half hour or so I give him some more. He stops hyperventilating almost immediately, and seems much calmer and much less frantic. He stays near me, but his shaking subsides quickly, and he doesn't try to hide under the beds anymore.
Bach Rescue™ Remedy (as with other Bach® Original Flower Remedies) can safely be given to most animals – it can even be dropped into a fish tank! It is usually easiest to put the drops into their drinking water or food, but in an emergency situation the drops can be placed in a little water and dropped straight onto the tongue. Use two drops Bach Rescue™ Remedy and two drops of any other Remedies. Remember, alcohol can sting so do not put drops directly in the mouth and keep away from the eyes.
Jane Galloway from Edgemead is a long-time fan of Bach Rescue™ Remedy:
I was introduced to Bach Rescue™ Remedy some years ago, when I was about to get married for the second time. We were both widowed and in our sixties, and lots of family members from both sides were attending the ceremony, plus many friends, and I was feeling a little nervous. My daughter made me open my mouth and she then dropped Bach Rescue™ Remedy onto my tongue, and did it again an hour later. I have been "hooked" ever since. Once my husband and I lost our way and we were on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere – I became anxious, and out came the drops. I always keep them in the cubby hole of my car, and if I am stuck in rush hour traffic, and become a bit stressed... out come the drops! I find them instantly soothing and calming, and recommend them to anyone for stressful situations.
Bach Rescue™ Remedy is the ideal non-addictive, non-drowsy remedy for panic, shock, fear and stress, where it comforts and reassures.
Andrew Beier told us about how Bach Rescue™ Remedy helped his dog cope with a move from Johannesburg to Cape Town:
My 9 year old Doberman-Rottweiler cross has a rather nervous disposition and hates other dogs. When we moved from Johannesburg to Cape Town we were very worried that she would not cope with the kennelling and the flight. A colleague suggested that we should put some Bach Rescue™ Remedy in her water bowl. This worked so well that we now give her a drop or two before walks as well. She is much calmer and looks much happier.
Bach Rescue™ Remedy is great for pets, and really calms them down. Sometimes it's hard for us to understand where an animal's anxiety is coming from, and it can be difficult to comfort them, especially if they are in kennels. Bach Rescue™ Remedy effectively comforts and reassures when it's hard for us to do so.
